Here is a copy of a Monsanto "Technology use Agrement" or contract for growing its patented GMO "Roundup Ready" Canola or rapeseed sold in Canada.
The written comments states that the "2003 contract includes a clause that you cannot sue Monsanto, on anything, or for any reason or take Monsanto to court, or lay a lawsuit against them".
The various clauses [1] probibit the grower from saving and planting his own seed and harvesting voluneteer seed crops, [2] commit him to use only "Roudup" branded weedkiller, [4] give Monsanto the right to enter the farmer's property, inspect and take samples of his seeds and crops, [5] oblige the farmer pay $15 per acre for every acre contaminated with the GMO rapeseed not covered by the agreement, to destroy all contaminted crops, and to pay all Monsanto's court costs and legal fees in the event of a dispute, and [6] commit the famer's heirs, personal representatives and successors to abide by the terms of the contract!
